ACE Winches to Supply Mooring Winch Package for Petronet LNG Terminal

ACE Winches has been commissioned by Indian company Afcons Infrastructure to supply eight 62 tonne Constant Tension Mooring Winch Packages for the Petronet LNG Terminal on Petronet’s second jetty at Dahej on the southwest coast of Gujarat, India.

The second LNG Jetty has been built to reduce the risk of incident and accommodate larger vessels at the site. It can berth up to two higher capacity vessels against the central connector utilising eight compact concrete mooring dolphins, or concrete blocks on which the ACE Winches mooring packages are located. This arrangement enables the transfer of the LNG to storage tanks and other vaporization facilities onshore.

The terminal on the current Dahej Jetty is currently meeting around 20 percent of the total gas demand of India.

The complete SBW package is due to be delivered mid-year 2013 and will be in accordance with Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) specifications, an additional regulation specified by the client over and above the regular ACE quality standards.

An installation crew from ACE Winches will be on site once the equipment has arrived at the location to supervise the commissioning of the constant tension mooring packages on to the mooring dolphins. They will also witness and ensure the correct interconnection of controls and electrical elements.

Once fully commissioned it is expected the winches will have a lifespan of 30 years and will be in operation for over sixty percent of that time.
