Aegean Sets Up Shop in Russia

Athens-based marine fuel logistics company Aegean Marine Petroleum Network has hired five former employees of the bankrupt Danish ship fuel supplier OW Bunker to run the company’s newly launched operations in Russia.

Aegean’s operations in this region will include a marketing and business development office located in St. Petersburg, dedicated to sales and marketing of marine petroleum products across all Russian ports.

Earlier this month, Aegean took over two bunkering barges that were previously under charter by OW Bunker, as part of the company’s plan to launch physical supply and marketing operations in Germany.

E. Nikolas Tavlarios, Aegean’s President, said: “This expansion is consistent with our opportunistic efforts to diversify our operations and enhance our global footprint. We believe that our expansion into Russia, combined with our recent entry into the U.S. Gulf Coast, U.S. West Coast, and German markets, demonstrates our continued actions to strengthen the Aegean network around the world.”
