AGT Returns in 2013 with Focus on LNG Industry, Australia

After a highly successful inaugural year, the Australian Gas Technology Conference & Exhibition (AGT) has announced its return in 2013 with a topical conference program and exhibition focusing on Australia’s lucrative $200 billion LNG industry.

Speaking at the recent launch event in Perth, AGT Conference Committee Chair Mark Stickells said the need for the event was greater than ever, given the rapid growth of Australia’s LNG industry and increasing global demand for LNG as a lower emission alternative to traditional fossil fuels.

“AGT is a tremendous platform to explore both the talent and significant opportunities that exist in Australia’s gas industry,” said Stickells, who is also Deputy Director of The University of Western Australia’s Energy and Minerals Institute.

“Last year’s event delivered an innovative blend of technical and commercial conference presentations and a large scale exhibition focused on innovation and careers in the gas industry and I look forward to seeing the event build on this success in 2013.”

Launched by the organisers of the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG), AGT attracted more than 3200 industry visitors in 2012, winning the award for Best Trade Show Under 10,000m2 at the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence.

This year’s event, to be held at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 1-3 July, will include a packed two-day conference program exploring the theme of challenges, innovation and transformation in the Australian gas industry.

More than 100 exhibitors are also expected for the AGT Exhibition, which will focus on new products and innovations in gas processing and the construction and operation of LNG facilities, associated pipelines and exporting terminals.

The innovators driving Australia’s gas industry will also be recognised in the Australian Gas Innovation Awards, which aim to acknowledge innovation excellence in the gas industry and maximise the commercialisation of ideas by building links between industry and research organisations.

The importance of the awards for Australian firms was underlined at the launch event by Ashley Challenor, CEO of Cetra Technologies, a cryogenic insulation manufacturing technology company that won the major award last year.

Entries for this year’s awards are now open, with the winners to be announced at the AGT Official Dinner on 2 July.
