Aker Solutions bags Åsgard A topside deal

Norwegian oilfield services provider Aker Solutions has been awarded a contract from Statoil for modification work on the topside of the Åsgard A production vessel offshore Norway.

The contract is for engineering, procurement, construction and installation services to accommodate optimized recovery and value creation at Åsgard A FPSO, Aker Solutions said on Wednesday.

“We are pleased to have won this order, which will help us secure work in mid-Norway,” said Linda Aase, responsible for execution of projects within brownfield modifications.

In 2016, as part of Statoil-operated Trestakk field development located in the Norwegian Sea, Statoil awarded contracts for the modification of the Åsgard A production vessel to receive oil and gas from the Trestakk field development. Trestakk is located some 27 km southeast of Åsgard A. An EPCI contract was awarded to FMC Technologies and Technip Norge, now TechnipFMC, and a topside contract went to Aker Solutions.

Statoil submitted the plan for the Trestakk development to Norwegian authorities in November 2016. The plan was approved in April 2017.

The field development comprises of a subsea template and a tied-in satellite well. Three production wells and two gas injection wells will be drilled. The project will be tied back to the Åsgard A oil production vessel, with planned production startup anticipated in 2019.
