ALE Unveils New TP Carrier Design

ALE has designed a new modular transport frame for carrying transition pieces within marshaling ports, which is said to optimize the costs of offshore wind projects.

According to ALE, the new transition piece carrier has been developed by the R&D team in Breda, the Netherlands, as a more cost-effective alternative to transporting the structures rather than using cranes.

The system can move within limited spaces, which optimizes storage, operate at higher wind speeds and is not limited to the TPs’ diameters or weights, the company said.

It is said to enable the TPs to be simply positioned onto the current concrete blocks, which are readily available and are a more cost-effective storage option.

The carrier is also capable of transporting more than 600t, is flexible enough to transport the TPs with different base designs, and provides a safer transport solution as it eliminates the need to work at height, ALE said.

“Offshore renewables is a huge growth market for us and we wanted to ensure we had the optimal solution for port handling operations for our clients,” said ALE’s Technical Sales Manager Tomas Villarino.

“This is a highly beneficial solution that aids project efficiency and cost reduction, with optimised working conditions that will be compatible with the ever-changing design of TPs to future-proof our offering in the sector.”
