Almaz Shipbuilding Held  Keel Laying Ceremony for Floating Crane

Almaz Shipbuilding Company yesterday held a keel laying ceremony for the second self-propelled floating crane of project 02690 (Yard No 901), which is being built for the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Project 02690 was designed by Spetssudoproect CJSC (St. Petersburg) for lifting and hoisting operations, loading of surface crafts and submarines, fitting of chains at floating berths, installation of road equipment and on deck transportation of cargo.

Major characteristics:

Full displacement – about 2,000 tonnes,

Length – about 50 m,

Breadth – about 22 m,

Range – 3,500 miles,

Endurance – 10 days,

Lifting capacity – 35-150 tonnes,

Crew – 22 persons.

Almaz signed this contract for a series of nine 02690 project cranes with the Ministry of Defense in the spring of 2013. The keel for the first floating crane of the project was laid on May 17, 2013.
