American Gas Association Launches Bid to Host World Gas Conference in Washington, DC

The American Gas Association (AGA) has launched its bid to host the IGU Presidency for the 2015-2018 triennium.

If successful, the 27th World Gas Conference (WGC2018) will take place in June 2018 in Washington, DC. The vote to determine the conference host will take place at the upcoming IGU Council meeting in Dubrovnik, Croatia in October 2011, AGA said in a statement.

The first World Gas Conference (WGC) was held in 1931 and has become “the most important of the international gas events, attracting several thousand industrial and political leaders, gas executives and exhibitors“.

Owned by the International Gas Union (IGU), the WGC takes place every three years.

The USA candidate for IGU President is David Carroll, president and CEO of the Gas Technology Institute (GTI). David is currently Chairman of the Steering Committee for the 17th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG 17), due to take place in Houston in 2013. The candidate for WGC National Organizing Committee Chairman is Dave McCurdy, president and CEO of the American Gas Association.
