Amur River LNG carrier begins Sakhalin-2 operation

The LNG carrier Amur River recently departed from the port of Prigorodnoye for its first voyage loaded with 149 700 cubic metres of liquefied natural gas from the Sakhalin-2 project.

The agreement on the vessel freight for Sakhalin Energy was signed between the company and Gazprom Marketing and Trading in April 2014.

The Amur River is fit for operation under low temperatures and ice conditions with the ice class 1A FS. This enables year-round LNG transportation from the LNG jetty of the Sakhalin-2 project in Prigorodnoye port.

The vessel will deliver LNG produced at Russia’s first LNG plant to the countries in Asia-Pacific, Sakhalin Energy informed in a statement.

The Sakhalin Energy fleet of LNG carriers now consists of five tankers. In addition, liquefied natural gas from the Sakhalin-2 plant is also delivered by the tankers under the customers’ management.
