Annova LNG to Build Brownsville LNG Export Terminal

Houston-based construction company Annova LNG has filed an application with US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for authorization to construct and operate new liquefaction and export facilities on the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas, according to data provided by FERC.

The project would serve as a mid-scale natural gas liquefaction facility for exporting natural gas.

Annova said that the project would include six liquefaction trains, each with a nameplate capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), for an aggregate nameplate capacity of 6 mtpa and a maximum output at optimal operating conditions of 6.95 mtpa.

“The mid-scale size of the facility would meet the requirements of multiple foreign purchasers whose annual demand is best met with increments of 1 mtpa,” the application notes.

The project consists of two principal parts, the LNG facilities, which will be designed to receive 0.9 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of feed gas via an intrastate natural gas pipeline, and the associated marine transfer facilities.

“The feed gas will be treated, liquefied, and stored on-site in two single-containment LNG storage tanks,” FERC said, adding that the LNG will then be pumped from the LNG storage tanks to the marine transfer facilities, where it will be loaded onto LNG carriers for export.

Annova plans to start site preparation in the second quarter of 2018, while the construction of the facilities could begin in the third quarter of 2018.
