API Praises House Vote on LNG Exports

API welcomed the bipartisan vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to fast-track exports of liquefied natural gas.

“Our allies overseas are looking to the U.S. for leadership on energy, just as American workers are looking for leadership on job creation, and this legislation provides both,” said API President and CEO Jack Gerard.

“America is now the world’s top producer of natural gas, and tearing down barriers to foreign markets could boost our growth here at home, create thousands of jobs, and strengthen our position as an energy superpower. With bipartisan champions in both chambers, momentum is strong, and we’re optimistic that the House and Senate will come together to unlock the economic and strategic potential of America’s energy revolution,” he added.

Introduced by Rep. Cory Gardner and cosponsored by Reps. Gene Green and Tim Ryan, the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act would expedite approval of over 20 export permits at the Department of Energy.
