Apply Sørco Wins Gullfaks Topsides Modifications Gig

Apply Sørco has been awarded a contract by Statoil for topside modifications related to subsea compression on Gullfaks field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The project will increase the wellhead pressure and production from the field. The contract includes installation of new equipment and technical solutions on the platform to operate the subsea compression system from Gullfaks C.

The compression system is electrically powered from Gullfaks and therefore requires new electrical equipment on the platform. The work also includes upgrading of instrumentation and control systems, structural modifications, tie-in of the control cable from the subsea installation and connection to the platform systems.

“We are proud to succeed with a new, important contract for Statoil and appreciate to be given the opportunity to participate in the realization of one of the very first subsea compression systems in the world“, says Frederik Hvistendahl, Managing Director of Apply Sørco.

“The contract is strategically important to us and provides valuable experience with regard to tie-in of subsea installations and subsea compression systems to topsides facilities“, adds Hvistendahl.

The contract has an estimated value of around 375 million NOK (USD 68 million) and will employ a total of 180 people in Apply Sørco organization. The work will start immediately at the company headquarters in Stavanger and will continue until November 2015.
