Archer CEO Steps Down

Oil services company Archer said on Friday that its CEO John Lechner has resigned from his position, effective immediately.

He will remain as a senior advisor to the Archer leadership team during the transition period until a new CEO is appointed.

During the interim period, Archer Chairman Kjell-Erik Østdahl will assume the role of executive chairman.

Kjell-Erik Østdahl said: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank John for his leadership through a challenging period for the global oilfield service industry. I appreciate John’s contribution to Archer and wish him all the best in the future.”

In 2016, Lechner replaced David King, who had been Archer’s CEO since July 2013.

Lechner joined Archer in 2012 and has held positions as President North Sea Region since July 2013 and President Eastern Hemisphere since January 2016. He worked for Schlumberger, Parker Drilling and OiLSERV previous to joining Archer.
