ASEAN Explorer Starts Subsea Cable Repair Work Off Sri Lanka

Yesterday Dhiraagu announced that the submarine cable repair ship ASEAN Explorer reached the cable damage point approximately 26km off Sri Lanka and that the engineers have started the repair work. Engineers from SLT and Dhiraagu are also on board the repair ship.

The ship has located the damaged part of the cable using a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) and has commenced work to replace this damaged part, the company said in today’s announcement.

The engineers on board the ship have also informed that their initial findings show that the damage to the cable is likely to be caused by a ship’s anchor.
