ATCO Wins APLNG Accommodation Contract (Australia)

ATCO Structures & Logistics has been awarded a contract to design and manufacture a 2,600-person temporary accommodation facility on Curtis Island, Queensland for Australia Pacific LNG.

The contract was awarded by Bechtel Australia, the primary engineering, procurement and construction contractor working for Australia Pacific LNG’s liquefied natural gas facility.

This is ATCO Structures & Logistics’ third major contract win this year supporting liquefied natural gas projects on Curtis Island. Curtis Island is approximately 500 km northwest of Brisbane.

Our significant experience providing quality modular units for other similar projects was key to winning this contract,” said Harry Wilmot, President & Chief Operating Officer, ATCO Structures & Logistics. “We have developed a solid reputation in Australia for providing the local workforce with safe, reliable accommodations.”

In May, ATCO Structures & Logistics announced it had begun building two other construction camps on Curtis Island; a 1,700-person accommodation facility supporting the Queensland Curtis LNG Project and a second 1,700-person accommodation facility for the Gladstone LNG project.

This latest project includes sleeping quarters, a dining facility and laundry area. The central core will include a pool, gym, outdoor sports court and administration buildings. Delivery of the modular units will begin in late 2011.
