Atlantic Offshore sends two oldest ERRVs to scrapyard

Shipping company Atlantic Offshore has sold two emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRV) for recycling in Denmark.

Atlantic said on Wednesday that the two ERRVs in question were the Ocean Sprite and Ocean Swan.

The interesting fact about these vessels is that they are Atlantic’s two oldest EERVs in the fleet with the Ocean Sprite being put into service in 1975 and the Ocean Swan in 1982.

The company added that the EERVs have been laid up since late 2016.

The most recent work the Ocean Sprite did was with Dana Petroleum awarded in February 2016 and with Ithaca until July 2016. The 1975-built Sprite is 61.2 meters long, 13.86 meters wide, and can accommodate 15 people.

On the other hand, the 1982-built Swan is 52 meters long and 12.5 meters wide and can accommodate 23 people.
