Atwood Mako Rig Stays with Talisman for One More Year

Atwood Oceanics, Inc. has been awarded a twelve-month contract extension by Salamander Energy (Bualuang) Limited (“Salamander”) for the jackup Atwood Mako.

The extension is priced at a day rate of $155,000 and begins September 9, 2013. The Atwood Mako commenced its initial twelve month drilling services contract with Salamander on September 9, 2012 for operations offshore Thailand. With the extension, the Atwood Mako’s firm commitment extends through September 9, 2014.

The Bualuang field in the Gulf of Thailand, where the rig has been deeployed, is forecast to average circa. 7,200 bopd in 2012 and is currently producing at over 8,300 bopd. As the development programme progresses with the drilling of an additional 15 development wells, the production rate from Bualuang in 2013 is forecast to be within the range 11,000 – 14,000 bopd, representing a minimum of a 50% increase in production.
