Australia: Abigroup Receives International Contractor of the Year Award

 Abigroup Receives International Contractor of the Year Award

Abigroup has been awarded Contractor of the Year at the prestigious International Erosion Control Association’s (IECA) annual awards event held in Las Vegas.

In addition Abigroup’s Banora Point Upgrade Alliance (BPUA) has won the Environmental Achievement Award at the same event.

The Contractor of the Year Award recognises those contractors who demonstrate excellence in the field execution and application of effective erosion and sediment control practices across multiple projects.

The Contractor of the Year submission was a joint effort by Abigroup’s NSW, Victoria and Queensland teams showcasing:

Banora Point, NSW;

Hume Highway Woomargama Alliance (HHWA), NSW;

Peninsula Link, VIC;

Melbourne Geelong Pipeline, VIC;

Origin Alliance, QLD; and

Northern Network Alliance, QLD.

Abigroup’s National Environment and Sustainability Manager, Sarah Marshall said, “The award reflects the fact that Abigroup has a consistent best practice approach to erosion and sediment management across all of our projects.”

Congratulations and thank you to the project teams and business unit representatives who, not only put a winning award submission together but maintain Abigroup’s award winning approach to environmental management day-in day-out on our projects.”

The BPUA’s award recognises the project team’s innovative ‘triple-stack’ design at the northbound on ramp which enables the team to collect and treat road surface run off in what is a highly constrained area.

BPUA Alliance Manager Jason Moran, who accepted the awards on behalf of Abigroup at the opening ceremony, acknowledged the contribution of everyone in the team for the role they played in the BPUA’s achievement, as well as congratulating the other Abigroup projects involved in the Contactor of the Year award submission.

This is the second consecutive year that Abigroup has been recognised at the IECA awards, with the HHWA winning the Environmental Achievement Award last year.
