Australia: Bega River Dredging Completed

Bega River Dredging Completed

The Bega Valley Shire Council completed the dredging program at the mouth of the Bega River at Mogareeka, reports abc.net.au.

This project will provide great benefits to the local residents by preventing the Tathra-Bermagui Road from flooding.

It has been a year since the river was last dredged, stated Derek Van Bracht, the Shire’s Environmental Services Coordinator, and added: “It’s a bit of a guessing game to a degree… It all just does depend on the flow coming down the river and obviously our farmers aren’t irrigating as much at the moment.

The Council wrapped up the Bega River dredging project this week, after rain caused the water level to rise.
