Australia: GO Offshore to Expand Fleet by Adding Two New Vessels

Garrick Stanley, Chief Operating Officer for GO MARINE GROUP, recently announced that two new vessels will be joining the GO fleet.

Named after the nautical navigation stars Canopus and Capella the vessels – the GO CANOPUS & GO CAPELLA will provide a boost to GO’s anchor handling capabilities.

Both vessels are DP2, 10800 BHP, 140t BP, 42 man accommodation, FiFi 1 Anchor Handling Vessels and will be fitted with FRC’s.

Delivery is expected to be in mid November with the first Job fixed with DOF Subsea for the decommissioning of the Challis Venture field for PTTEP in the Timor Sea.

Background on the stars:

Canopus is the brightest star in the southern constellation of Carina and Argo Navis, and the second brightest star in the night-time sky, after Sirius.

Carina is a constellation in the southern sky. Its name is Latin for the keel of a ship, and it was formerly part of the larger constellation of Argo Navis (the ship Argo) until that constellation was divided in three.

Capella is the brightest star in the constellation Auriga, the sixth brightest star in the night sky and the third brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere, after Arcturus and Vega. Although it appears to be a single star to the naked eye, it is actually a star system of four stars in two binary pairs.

Auriga is a constellation in the northern sky. Its name is Latin for ‘charioteer’ and its stars form a shape that has been associated with the pointed helmet of a charioteer. It was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy, and is included among the 88 modern constellations.
