Australia: Oil Search Makes Management Changes

Oil Search announced the appointment of two senior executives to the company’s Management Team.

Ian Munro will join the Company as Executive General Manager Gas Business Development, taking over day-to-day responsibility for growing gas business and driving opportunities for gas commercialisation. This includes identification, promotion and Joint Venture management of growth and expansion opportunities for LNG in PNG and elsewhere.

Ian has had over 25 years’ technical and commercial experience in oil and gas, with Mobil, ExxonMobil and most recently with Woodside Petroleum, where he was initially Commercial Manager for the Pluto LNG Development before moving to the position of Vice President Commercial and Environment Browse LNG Development. Ian holds a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Geology. He has extensive experience in Joint Venture relationship and commercial management, together with economic evaluation for major LNG projects. Ian will join us on 26th August 2013.

The second appointment is Matt Kay, who will join Oil Search as Executive General Manager Commercial, taking responsibility for commercial and investment strategy and planning across the organisation.

Matt has over twenty years’ experience in the oil and gas industry having worked for Epic Energy, Santos and for the last 12 years, Woodside Petroleum, where he held various commercial management and business development positions, including in the North West Shelf Joint Venture and the roles of General Manager Commercial for Middle East and Africa and the Sunrise Joint Venture. He has also held the General Manager Production Planning position for Woodside. Most recently he was Vice President Corporate Development and Upstream Commercial, including accountability for mergers and acquisitions. Matt will assume responsibilities for Strategy and Planning at Oil Search, with overall responsibility for commercial input and standards across the organisation.

Matt is a qualified accountant and has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He will join Oil Search in January 2014.
