Australia: Santos GLNG ships its 25th cargo

The US$18.5 billion Santos GLNG project in Australia has exported its 25th cargo of chilled gas since it commenced production in 2015.

The 25th cargo was loaded during the weekend onboard the South Korean flagged LNG tanker YK Sovereign.

The 127,125 cbm vessel was the first Moss-type LNG carrier to travel through the Port of Gladstone since the commencement of the LNG export industry in December 2014, according to Santos GLNG.

Santos GLNG did not reveal the final destination of the cargo. According to the shipping data, the tanker is heading to South Korea and is expected to reach the country around April 27.

Santos has a 30% interest in Australia’s GLNG. Other co-venturers include Petronas (27.5%), Total (27.5%) and Kogas (15%).

The first cargo produced at the 7.8 mtpa LNG plant on Curtis Island was delivered in October to Kogas’ Pyeong Taek terminal in South Korea.

First LNG from Train 2 is expected in the second quarter of 2016.
