Australia: Svitzer Scores Gorgon Contract

Svitzer Scores Gorgon Contract

Chevron Australia has awarded Svitzer a 20-year contract on the Gorgon LNG Project.

The value of the contract is 600 million USD.

Svitzer will build four 33m 80-tonne bollard-pull azimuthing stern drive (ASD) tugs and one pilot boat for the marine services at the Gorgon terminal.

These tugs will be state-of-the-art, not only with regards to lowering fuel consumption, but also regarding noise and light”, said Chief Executive Officer Jesper T. Lok.

The Gorgon Project will develop the Gorgon and Jansz/Io gas fields, located within the Greater Gorgon area, about 130 kilometres off the north-west coast of Western Australia.

It includes the construction of a 15 million tonne per annum LNG plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to provide 300 terajoules per day to supply gas to Western Australia.
