Beerenberg scoops 7-year maintenance deal with Statoil

Statoil has awarded its compatriot service provider Beerenberg a seven-year maintenance and modification agreement for work on at the Tjeldbergodden facility in Norway, which receives gas from the Heidrun offshore field.

Beerenberg said on Friday that the contract value was estimated at NOK 200 million ($24.6 million).

The contract is for ISO and other adjoining services at the facility and it will include general maintenance work, audit work, and major planned maintenance projects. The work starts on January 1, 2018.

The Tjeldbergodden industrial facility at Nordmøre comprises three plants; a methanol plant, a gas receiving terminal, and an air separation plant.

The facility processes gas from the Heidrun offshore field which is transported to Tjeldbergodden via the 250 km 16″ Haltenpipe pipeline. The field lies on the Halten Bank in the Norwegian Sea. It has been developed with a floating concrete-hulled tension-leg platform (TLP) and has been on stream since 1995.

The methanol plant is the largest in Europe, with a capacity of 900,000 tonnes of methanol per year. The volumes from the facility account for more than 25% of total European methanol production and 10% of consumption.

Statoil’s share in the plant is 82.01 percent, while ConocoPhillips Skandinavia owns 17.99 percent.
