Belships Fixes Newbuilding Duo

Oslo-listed dry bulk shipping operator, Belships, has chartered two of its Supramax newbuilding dry bulk carriers, currently under construction at Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding.

The 61,000 dwt Belforest will be delivered from Imabari Shipbuilding on or around September 25.

Cargill, Geneva, will charter the Belforest for 10 to 14 months, which is expected to generate an EBITDA of USD 1.15 million over the average period.

Belforest’s sister ship – Belisland – will be delivered from Imabari around March 15, 2016, and will be chartered to Canpotex for 5 years.

Belships currently operates a fleet of three Supramax bulk carriers.

Besides Belforest and Belisland, the company has one more 63,000 dwt vessel under construction at Imabari, scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2017.
