BHP Billiton selling NWS LNG cargo

A cargo to be loaded at the Woodside-operated North West Shelf LNG project in Australia is offered in a closed tender by BHP Billiton, a stakeholder in the venture.

Trading sources that revealed the issuance of the tender have not made it clear whether the cargo has been awarded, Reuters reports.

The North West Shelf LNG project participants, Woodside, BHP Billiton, BP, Japan Australia LNG and Chevron have made a change in the marketing structure of the project meaning that every shareholder markets LNG cargoes individually.

The North West Shelf project facilities include five LNG processing trains with a total capacity of 16.3 million tonnes a year.
