Bibby Offshore Gets Boycott Warning in Norway

Norway’s offshore union Industri Energi (IE) plans to boycott Bibby Offshore to prevent it from securing more work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf due to information suggesting that the UK-based subsea specialist exercises ‘social dumping’.

This is Bibby Offshore’s first contract in Norway with ConocoPhillips and involves project management, installation engineering, procurement and subsea installation works, related to maintenance activities on the Norpipe oil pipeline.

According to IE, Bibby Offshore Norway has on July 1 denied the union’s claim for collective agreement for the company’s offshore workers engaged on the Norwegian Shelf. In that respect, Industry Energy has announced it will implement boycotts from July 25.

“We can not sit idly by and watch a foreign player without a collective agreement come here and get missions, at the expense of companies acting seriously,” says OSA-inspector Harald Hereid.
