Bibby Offshore to work in North Sea for BP

Bibby Offshore, a subsea services provider to the oil & gas industry, has been awarded two contracts;  one by BP in the North Sea and another one by an international oil and gas company to be performed in the Gulf of Mexico. 

The multi-million-pound contract with BP entails the replacement of subsea infrastructure in the Central North Sea.

The work is part of the $1billion Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) Life Extension Project announced by BP in the summer.

ETAP is one of the largest and most complex developments in the North Sea, comprising nine oil and gas reservoirs, six of which are operated by BP. The ETAP Life Extension Project (ELXP) will help secure the future of the fields until 2030 and beyond, Bibby said.

The Bibby Offshore ELXP contract involves installing new subsea control system infrastructure to safeguard power and communication links to ETAP’s Machar, Madoes and Mirren fields, some 150 miles east of Aberdeen.

From April 2016, Bibby Offshore will provide dive support and construction support vessels from its international fleet to deliver services including; umbilical installation, trenching, structure installation and commissioning through to final survey of the completed workscopes.

Howard Woodcock, Chief Executive Bibby Offshore said: “This is a significant contract win for Bibby Offshore, and we are delighted to be working with BP again, having previously undertaken subsea intervention work for BP in 2014.”

Gulf of Mexico gig

In addition to the contract with BP, Bibby Offshore has won a contract with an international oil company, through its Houston-based division, Bibby Subsea.

Bibby Subsea, through its strategic alliance with Aqueos Corporation, has secured a multi-million dollar decommissioning project in the Gulf of Mexico for an international oil company. The work will be undertaken during the first half of 2016 and the DSV Bibby Sapphire will relocate to the Gulf of Mexico during December 2015 to work on this project.

Woodcock commented: “North America remains a focus for our international expansion. We have a clear commitment to this region and will continue to develop our strategic alliance with Aqueos Corporation.”

Brandon Bordelon

According to Bibby Offshore, the position with the MV Brandon Bordelon remains, as reported at the recent Q3 2015 results, that Bibby Subsea has cancelled the charter party in line with the contractual terms and has not incurred any penalty from the cancellation notice issued for the vessel.
