BigRoll’s first Yamal LNG transport vessel delivered

The first vessel to transport modules to Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in Russia, BigRoll Barentsz, has recently been delivered to its owner BigRoll by Cosco Dalian Shipyard. 

The vessel will immediately enter into a multi-year contract with Yamgaz, the consortium of Technip, JGC Corporation and Chiyoda for module transportation as part of the Yamal LNG project, the Netherlands-based BigRoll said in a statement.

The vessel has the ability to operate in temperatures as low as minus 55 degrees centigrade.

BigRoll Barentsz is the first of four vessels on order at the Cosco Dalian Shipyard.

The second ship in the series, the BigRoll Bering is expected to be delivered in May 2016 after it was launched at the end od December last year. It will also serve under the multi-year contract with Yamgaz.

The remaining two vessels are set for delivery in the second half of 2016 and early 2017.

Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project is set to start production at its 16.5 mtpa facility in 2017.
