BMT Consultants India Celebrates Five Years in Business

 

BMT Consultants India, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, is celebrating five years in business. To date, 145 ports and logistic projects at 35 coastal locations across India worth an aggregate value of Rs 72,000 Crore, approximately US$16 billion, have benefited from the consultancy’s specialist expertise.

Suren Vakil, Managing Director of BMT Consultants India comments: “This is a very exciting time for the company. As India’s economy has grown exponentially, so too has the need for the country’s ports to be able to cope with the increased activity. BMT Consultants India started its operations in 2006 with only three employees and now has 60 staff, operating out of three offices which are situated in Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad and two project sites. Its technical experts provide support from site selection and feasibility studies through to design and project management including specialist services such as traffic forecasting, coastal modelling, navigation simulation and bulk materials handling.

As well as working on a number of LNG terminals including proposed projects at Hazira, Dahej, Ennore and Mundra, BMT has provided specialist services at existing container ports including JNPT, Chennai and Mundra. The company has also been recognised as a preferred consultant for financial institutions for due diligence and Lenders Engineer assignments with clients including IDFC, Axis Bank, State of Bank of India and Punjab National Bank.

Director, Sajith Sreedharan adds: “Our ability to provide innovative ideas and cost effective, project management services have allowed us to work on some of the most high profile projects in India including the largest port shipyard complex at Kattupalli and the Mumbai Offshore Container Terminal. Given the success of our first five years, we’re excited to embrace the next five, and beyond.”
