Bold Tern Installs Turbine 28 at Hornsea One

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up Bold Tern has completed the installation of 28 turbines at the Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm in the UK.

The vessel, which is in charge of installing half of the project’s 174 turbines, has picked up the 8th batch of the Siemens Gamesa units in the Port of Hull and is waiting for good weather to go for installation.

The remainder of the turbines is being installed by A2SEA’s installation vessel Sea Challenger, which commenced the works shortly after Bold Tern installed the first unit in early February.

DEME Offshore recently completed the installation of 174 monopile foundations at the 1.2GW offshore wind project.

Hornsea Project One will comprise 7MW Siemens Gamesa turbines connected to three offshore substations and a reactive compensation substation (RCS). The wind farm is expected to be completed in 2020.
