Brunei Shell Receives Two AW139 Helicopters

Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) has received two intermediate twin engine AW139 helicopters just six months after the contract was awarded to AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company.

The aircrafts will be used to perform offshore transport missions from Brunei Shell’s Anduki base in Brunei and they will benefit from a comprehensive power-by-the-hour support package delivered by AgustaWestland Malaysia from its Kuala Lumpur facility.

Vincenzo Alaimo, AgustaWestland’s Head of Regional Sales for SE Asia, said: “We are delighted to add Brunei Shell to the list of operators now flying the AW139 for offshore oil and gas support. We look forward to supporting these aircrafts from our regional hub here in Malaysia and are sure the AW139s performance and comfort will be greatly appreciated by both the aircrew and passengers.”

State-of-the-art technology, outstanding performance, low operating costs and the only helicopter in its class to meet the latest certification standards, have made the AW139 the helicopter of choice in the medium twin market and the benchmark in the global oil & gas sector. With its power reserve, the AW139 delivers Category A (Class 1) performance from a helipad (elevated or at ground level) at maximum take-off weight with an unmatched one engine inoperative capability. The standard configuration provides seating for 12 or 15 passengers in a large and bright 8.0 m3 cabin with excellent access and egress via large sliding cabin doors. High payload and performance ensures the AW139 delivers unmatched productivity for offshore operations.
