Bulk Carrier, Tanker Collide in Dover Strait

A bulk carrier and an oil tanker collided in the Dover Strait in the early morning hours of June 1, according to the UK Coastguard.

The officials informed that, although both vessels have been damaged, there was no water ingress and no pollution. A French tug was on scene with the vessels.

Additionally, there were no injuries reported following the incident and all of the crew aboard the tanker Seafrontier and the bulk carrier Huayang Endeavour are accounted for. The tanker is loaded with 37,953mt of gasoline and has 27 people on board, while the bulker is in ballast and has 22 people on board.

The UK Coastguard Channel Navigation Information Service has continued to work throughout the incident and was ensuring the safe passage of vessels through the Dover Strait Traffic Separation Scheme. The coastguard continues to monitor the situation, while the MCA Counter Pollution and Salvage and an MCA surveyor have all been informed and are working to resolve the situation.

Huayang Endeavour was on route to Lagos and Seafrontier was on route to Puerto Barrios, when they collided. The vessels have Chinese and Indian crews on board.
