Busy Week for Hanjin Heavy

South Korea’s Hanjin Heavy Industries (HHI) has won a contract to build two containerships for an undisclosed European client.

HHI has not disclosed the ships’ capacity, but the contract amount of KRW 74.93 billion (USD 68m) places the containerships at around 1,900 TEUs.

The expected delivery of the vessels is set for end of July 2016.

Earlier this week HHI received a USD 200 million order for two 180,000 dwt bulk carriers, again for an unnamed European client, and one patrol boat for the South Korea’s Navy.

The latest order pushes HHI’s 2014 orderbook to KRW 2.52 trillion (USD 2.28bn).
