Butendiek OWF Stands Tall

After one of our readers reported that the final turbine at the Butendiek offshore wind farm was installed last night, wpd confirmed the information to Offshore WIND this morning.

The Butendiek offshore wind farm features 80 Siemens SWT-3.6-120 wind turbines, which will generate a total capacity of 288 MW.

Each blade of the turbines is 58.5m long with its own pitching mechanism allowing for optimization throughout the operating range. These components are manufactured in Denmark and were shipped from the port of Esbjerg to the construction site.

The Butendiek offshore wind farm, located some 32 km west of the island of Sylt in the German North Sea, will soon be commissioned and able to provide renewable energy for approximately 360,000 households.
