BW confirms LNG duo order at DSME

Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW Group has ordered two liquefied natural gas carriers at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).

A spokeswoman for BW confirmed to LNG World News on Wednesday that BW’s LNG unit is the owner behind the order announced by Daewoo on February 6.

To remind, DSME did not reveal in the announcement the name of the shipowner saying it was located in the Americas.

The two 173,400-cbm LNG carriers, priced at some $183 million each, are scheduled for delivery by the first half of 2020.

The vessels will be equipped with ME-GI propulsion and a reliquefaction system.

BW LNG’s fleet comprises of 21 vessels out of which 16 vessels are in operation and 5 ships are on order with Daewoo.
