Canadian Company Eyes Tidal Energy Potential off Vancouver2

At the beginning of March, Vancouver-based Weyl Power Ltd submitted an application to BC Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations to investigate the tidal energy potential of two sites off Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Following concerns raised over safety of whales during the investigation, the company said that the applications are only for the acoustic survey and the equipment to be used is not going to harm the whales, writes The Victoria Times Colonist.

The company added that it has not determined yet what technology would be used to generate ocean power.
