CARIS announced that Dr. Salem Masry, President and CEO of CARIS, has been awarded the 2014 C.C. Kirby Award, by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB), in recognition of his world-beating land and marine mapping software.

CARIS' President and CEO Wins C.C. Kirby Award
CARIS’ Mark Masry accepted the C.C Kirby Award on behalf of Dr. Masry at the Annual Meeting of the APEGNB.

Dr. Masry founded CARIS in 1979 to commercialize the research into digital charting systems he undertook as part of the faculty of the University of New Brunswick’s Department of Geodesy and Geomatics. The Fredericton, New Brunswick based company has since become a world leader in the development of geospatial software catering towards the marine and hydrographic community and employs over 180 people worldwide.

The C.C. Kirby Award is given in recognition of outstanding service or contribution to both the engineering profession and the province of New Brunswick. Named in honour of Charles C. Kirby, a distinguished engineer who was the founder of the Association and co-founder and first President of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers, the C.C. Kirby Award is the most prestigious award a professional engineer can receive from the Association.
