Celsius Shipping Orders Tanker Quartet at Nantong Mingde

Copenhagen-based ship owner Celsius Shipping has ordered four more chemical tankers from China’s shipbuilder Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry.

The contract for four 24,600 DWT stainless steel tankers was signed on March 3rd, the company’s COO Niels Stig Christensen confirmed to World Maritime News.

The contract brings the company’s orderbook to a total of 14 chemical tankers of about 25,000 DWT with solid stainless steel cargo tanks.

The company ordered three 24,000-dwt stainless-steel chemical tankers at Nantong Mingde in 2014 bringing its order to 10 ships at the yard.

Information on the value of the deal or delivery dates have not been disclosed.

Celsius Shipping moved its operations to Copenhagen in January this year, closing its office in Monaco as it pushed for consolidation of its operations.

The group manages 8 stainless steel tankers and 25 product tankers. There are 10 stainless steel tankers and 6  MR product tankers under order with delivery from 2015, as last reported on the company’s website.
