CFE seeking to import 13 LNG cargoes

CFE of Mexico issued a 13 LNG cargoes tender for the delivery from February until November.

The state-owned utility requested cargoes of 138,000 cbm of LNG, with bids linked to an Asian LNG price, to be delivered to the Manzanillo import terminal, reports Argus.

It is expected for the company to issue further tenders during the year.

This tender is significantly smaller that than the last one the company issued in 2013 for 31 cargoes due to increased gas deliveries via pipeline from the US and increased deliveries from Peru under a long-term deal with Shell.

The company is building two pipelines that will see it add further import capacity of over 2.9 bcf of gas per day from the United States beginning in 2017. The other state.owned company, Pemex, is working on the Los Ramones pipeline project that will add further 2.1 bcf/d import capacity.
