Chengxi Shipyard Holds VALE FTS Conversion Ceremony, China

On November 15 2012, Chengxi Shipyard (Xinrong) Co., Ltd performed a ceremony for VALE FTS, a conversion project of VLOC Ore Sossego. The representatives from Owner VALE, Management MSI and Xinrong Shipyard jointly started the crystal ball which meant this project was successfully commenced.

The VLOC Ore Sossego arrived at Chengxi Shipyard (Xinrong) Co., Ltd on November 1 2012. The vessel’s LOA 321.95m, extreme breadth 58.0m, molded depth 29.5m, DWT 260630mt. The major conversion works are installing of 5 sets new cranes, 5 sets new grabs, 5 sets belt conveyors and 2 sets ship loaders on main deck, installing of 4 sets new 2300kw generators and attachments in engine room, installing of 19 sets new cabins in accommodation area for ship complement increasing from 23 persons to 84 persons.

It is also the sister vessel of Ore Fabrica which successfully converted from VLOC to FTS during the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 in Xinrong Shipyard. “It is rich experience and good management that attract us back to Xinrong to carry out this conversion project”, one of VALE representatives said.
