US energy giant and LNG operator Chevron said that Jon Huntsman Jr. has resigned from the company’s board of directors.

The resignation took effect on September 28.

Huntsman resigned from the board as he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate last week to serve as the U.S. ambassador to Russia, Chevron said in a filing to the stock exchange.

He started serving on Chevron’s board nominating and governance committee and public policy committee back in January 2014.

Worth mentioning, Huntsman was a candidate for the Republican nomination for president of the U.S. in 2011. He also served as U.S. ambassador to China and governor of Utah.
