China: Chengxi Shipyard Hands Over Bulk Carrier EVER WIN

Chengxi Shipyard Hands Over Bulk Carrier EVER WIN

Chengxi Shipyard recently held the naming and delivery ceremony for the 63rd Diamond 53.000 DWT Handymax Bulk Carrier. DIAMOND 53 is a new generation, geared, wide hatched, 53,000 DWT Handymax Bulk Carrier with double hull. The vessel is laid out with 5 cargo holds, equipped with end-folding hydraulically operated hatch covers.

Mr. Ma Buzheng, General Manager & Mr. Chen Ge, Consultant from Shanghai Yinpu Shipping Co., Ltd., Ms. Hu Xueyan from Shanghai Chorus, Mr. Cheng Wei, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Leading Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., Mr. Hu Jingen, Chairman, Mr. Cao Jiwei ,Cao Xueming & Mr. Ji Jun, Vice President from Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd. and the delegates from China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd were present at the delivery & naming ceremony to witness the wonderful moment.

The double hull concept ensures easy discharging and cargo hold cleaning, as well as a strong and robust hull structure, which is able to withstand the present heavy demands on Bulk Carriers. The safe operation of the DIAMOND 53 is improved dramatically, compared to present standard Handymax Bulk Carrier designs due to the fact that double hull forms a second barrier against accidental water ingress and allow safe close-up survey of the complete hull structure, even when the vessel is in service.

Furthermore, green water protection – by the forecastle and the protected under deck passage to the fore decks – improves the safe operation of the vessel. The environmental friendliness is ensured by low emission machinery and easy ballast water exchange. Furthermore, to minimise the risk for heavy fuel oil spill all heavy fuel oil is stored in coffered tanks in the engine room.

The DIAMOND 53 is a future-orientated design incorporating a wide range of operational features and expected future safety regulations.
