China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Accomplishes Repair Works for MV Laconia

The repair of m.v. “Laconia” was smoothly accomplished by CIC Changxing Shipyard on Jan. 9th, 2012. This vessel is owned by one Greek shipping company, and it was the third time that she awarded the repair project to CIC-Shipyards.

M.V. “Laconia” is a Panamax bulk carrier, she carried main engine cam shaft renewal and D.B.T. ballast pipes repair at CIC Changxing shipyard in 2009 and also had dry-docking repair & special survey at CIC Lixin Shipyard in 2010. Since the owner hurried for freight collection at that time, partial D.B.T. steel jobs adjacent to fuel oil tanks remained uncompleted. Based on good cooperation with CIC shipyards, the owner decided to finish the remaining steel jobs at CIC Changxing Shipyard after the vessel discharged the cargo in the middle of Dec., 2011, and additionally awarded two auxiliary engines overhauling & some mechanical items to the shipyard.
