CIC Changxing Shipyard Completes Repair Works for Container Carrier MV Tian Kang He

CIC Changxing Shipyard on November 9, 2011 completed repair works for MV Tian Kang He. The subject vessel is a 5400-TEU container carrier with LOA of 294m. and LOB of 32.2m. She was the second vessel of the TIAN series of vessel after the call of MV Tian Qing He. The main jobs were to replace 3 pieces of intermediate bearings which required a high accuracy in location.

Relying on the experience from the repair of MV Tian Qing He, the foremen placed strict control upon the key points. Prior to grinding the rest pad, the relevant training were carried out for the technicians which ensured to owner’s satisfaction of either the quality and the work period. During adjusting the intermediate shaft load, the shipyard personnel worked overnight due to the previous un-proper load and managed to reach a load which deviated the theoretical value for only 5%, far below the standard tolerance of 20%.

Under the care of the shipyard management, the repair team surmounted the difficulties of tight schedule, large quantity of work, and high requirement of technology, coordinated various divisions and made full use of all available resources, worked continuously on shifts and strictly complied with the procedures and instructions. Every point on the line was monitored and controlled. The quick responses to the problems strongly backed up a smooth process of the project. All these efforts finally brought an advanced sailing with good quality.
