China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Repairs MT Song Lin Wan

On October 4th, CIC Changxing Shipyard completed the repair of MT Song Lin Wan. The vessel (LOA 241M B 42M) is owned by China shipping development Co., Ltd. tanker company. The main work scope is about 30 tons steel plate renewal, void space, No.1 WBT and No2 WBT , which was caused by the sea collision.

Changxing Shipyard business department contacted with the vessel’s owner at once when knowing the subject vessel would have the average repair and learnt that the subject vessel would berth alongside Shanghai Waigaoqiao Slop Treatment Plant to have tank cleaning. The business department immediately informed engineering department to send a team on board the vessel for actual job inspection. After carefully inspecting the job, they made a repair schedule at once. The preparation of the material was already undergoing before the vessel coming into the shipyard.

Upon her arrival, the owner, who proposed two construction technologies, requested the shipyard to quote the repair price and duration respectively. Under a tight time, the business representative immediately had a meeting together with the ship repair manager and supervisors, and managed to provide the owner the required information within the same day, which facilitated the owner for a better decision.

Under the care and support of the shipyard’s top management, by the joint efforts of the business representative, the ship repair manager & supervisors, the foremen and workers worked overnight to complete the plate curving, installation and surface treatment in good quality within 7 days, by which the time was saved for the owner.
