China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Repairs MV Carpathia

M.V. Carpathia (LOA: 222.14m, moulded width: 30m) managed by a German shipping company, was smoothly repaired by CIC Changxing Shipyard recently. The work scope included the installation of the air cooler, and the pipe & valve renewal of the engine Room, cargo cell guide. Since the vessel’s next voyage was fixed already, she was requested to hit the water before September 4th by the ship’s superintendent. Otherwise, the shipowner would suffer economic loss.

With the excellent organization by the shipyard’s repair manager and joint efforts from all sides, the shipyard overcame the difficulties, speeded up the repair progress and ensured the repair project finally finished 2 days earlier than the original schedule. The superintendent, Mr. Thomas Rehm, was quite satisfied with the repair quality and the performance of the shipyard.

After the vessel’s departure, Mr. Thomas Rehm sent a commendatory letter to CIC Changxing Shipyard in appreciation of the yard’s kind support, especially praising the repair team of the subject vessel. Besides, he mentioned there would be a number of vessels to be repaired in China next year, and CIC Changxing Shipyard would be their first choice.
