China CIMC Nabs Another Semi-Sub Order

China’s CIMC Raffles  has received its 2nd order in two months for the construction of a deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig. The order comes from North Sea Rigs AS (NSR) for the rig that will operate in the North Sea under the name North Dragon.

The North Dragon semi will be able to operate at water depth up to 1200m and drill wells down to 8000m at a temperature of minus 25 degree Celsus which meet the Ice-Tclass. It will be equipped with DP3 and 8point mooring system.

The rig is designed for the North Sea environment but also other harsh environment regions such as Arctic and Barents Sea. This will be the fifth semi-submersible drilling rig built by CIMC Raffles.
