China: Repaired EMIRATES KANAKO Leaves CIC Changxing Shipyard

CIC Changxing Shipyard successfully completed the repair of MV EMIRATES KANAKO on March 9th 2012. The subject vessel belongs to one German company. The vessel’s length is 222.52m, breadth is 32.2m. The main work scope was cargo hold cell guide and hatch cover job.

The production department, hull workshop and all the management personnel cooperated and organized the labor force to overcome the difficulty, such as rainy weather, etc. They kept the owner’s interest in mind always. There were 280m stainless bar needed to be renewed scattering on 32 pieces hatch covers, but the stainless bar thickness was only 3mm, the workmen constantly improved welding shaping and visual effect according to comparison of the manual welding, DOVS and different sizes of welding electrode effect. During grinding at the late stage, the workmen followed strictly the owner’s instruction and delivered a sound repair to the owner in time.
