China’s Jovo buys spot LNG cargo from Pertamina

China’s privately owned Jovo Group is to receive a spot liquefied natural gas cargo at its Dongguan terminal in the Guangdong province.

Jovo purchased the cargo from Indonesian oil and gas giant Pertamina, a source familiar with the matter told LNG World News.

The cargo is being shipped on board the 30,000 cbm Hai Yang Shi You 301, which Jovo chartered from CNOOC of China for a period of 2 months.

The small LNG carrier departed from the Bontang plant in Indonesia on Wednesday, and it is expected to arrive at the Dongguan terminal around October 5, shipping data reveals.

China’s private LNG importer chartered the Hai Yang Shi You 301 from CNOOC as it awaits the arrival of LNG Lerici from Europe in mid of October. The 65,000 cbm LNG Lerici will serve the company for two years under a time charter deal, the source said.

The company also plans to rent again the previously chartered 89,900 cbm Arctic Spirit, owned by Teekay, once its Dongguan terminal receives an approval from the local government to receive “standard” sized LNG carriers.
