Chinese monopiles begin journey to Vietnam’s offshore wind project

China’s TSP Blue Island has sent off the first batch of monopile foundations for the 310 MW Binh Dai offshore wind project in Vietnam.

At the end of September, 31 monopiles began their journey from Nantong, Jiangsu Province, to the Vietnamese province Binh Tre.

Binh Dai will comprise a total of 74 turbines, Siemens Gamesa 4.5 MW and Goldwind 3.3 MW units, located 7km offshore the Binh Dai District.

Ningbo Orient Cable (NBO) will provide185km of 35kV subsea cable system for the 310 MW project.

The consortium of PowerChina Huadong Engineering Corporation and PowerChina International Group is the EPC contractor for the project.

The wind farm is being developed by the Mekong Wind Power Joint Stock Company, a special purpose company owned by Thailand’s Gulf Energy Development Public.
